3 camisas
In the span of a few months, French Kate explored textile illustration and customized three different shirts with her art.
The begining of a long a long series and here’s how it all started.

Fast Fashion
It is well known now that the fast fashion industry is increasing creating ethical and ecological desaster between producing in countries with poor environmental or human rights laws and the mountains of clothing thrown away every day into landfills poisioning the skin, the air and the seas accross the world.
Unfortunately, since the rise of fast fashion back in the 2000s, there is not much to be done to reverse these dangerous effects.
One way to kill its growing demand and to slow it down, all the while satisfying our cravings for «new» fashion, is to turn to second hand clothing (without over consuming) and up‑cycling.
This is what brought French Kate to start a new project using second hand clothing and drawing on them in order to add a new value to the forgotten pieces.
Blue shirt
"The first of these three illustrated shirts started with my dad handing me over an old one of his.
I was overthinking too much about what theme to follow and what to draw only to eventually relax into what I do best: surf and explore Instagram for inspiring and satisfying visuals.
The biggest challenge for me was to spend time on the same piece. A skill I have yet to master in any creative project despite my efforts to stay patient..
After hours of work a few months later, I finally decided that it was finished!"

Red shirt
"For the second one, I bought a white shirt from a thrift shop with a fabric that is weaved in a zigzag pattern.
This time, I drew all around from the back to the front in red, mixing some boxed illustrations (for lack of another word) and some not just like the previous one."

Purple shirt
"Then, through the online second hand shop Once Again I spotted a lavender coloured shirt with white vertical lines sewed into it to which I matched boxed illustrations only as a hint to the white and red one."
